Havana, Oct 11 (RHC) The Center for Demographic Studies of Cuba (CEDEM) begins today a cycle of scientific sessions to celebrate the 295th anniversary of the University of Havana.

Tuesday's conference is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. local time and is entitled: "Demographic analysis of productive agro-chains. A tool for the design of agrifood policies".

In October and November, CEDEM will offer research results on transcendental issues such as the Cuban migratory situation; as well as policies to address the demographic situation, rural areas, children, and youth, among others.

The meetings will be opportunities for scientific debate and free participation, according to the organizers.

Cuba maintains a high number of deaths, and few births and at the end of 2021, its population decreased in all provinces, according to specialized sources.

However, there is a strong will of the State to care for vulnerable people, women with three or more children, and climate change, as well as the causes that will lead the island to be the country with the oldest population in Latin America and the Caribbean by 2030. (Source: PL)
