Diaz-Canel held a meeting with Li Zhanshu, president of the National People's Congress.

Beijing, Nov 25 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel held talks with two senior Chinese government leaders and highlighted the excellent relations that exist between the different entities of their countries.

As part of his agenda in Beijing, Díaz-Canel held a meeting with Li Zhanshu, president of the National People's Congress, in which they highlighted the excellent relations that exist between the Cuban and Chinese parliaments and vowed to consolidate them further.

He also had a dialogue with Premier Li Keqiang. They review ties between Beijing-Havana and ratify the will to raise them to higher levels.

These meetings took place after the Cuban leader paid tribute with a wreath at the monument to the People's Heroes, located in Beijing's emblematic Tian'anmen Square.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping officially welcomed Díaz-Canel, they talked and witnessed the signing of 12 documents on cooperation in different sectors to strengthen Havana-Beijing ties, established 62 years ago and described by both sides as solid.

The meeting also ended with a joint declaration that reflected the willingness of the parties to expand communication and relations in political, economic, and multisectoral cooperation.

This text highlighted the mutual support on issues of interest to each side, during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic inside and outside their territories, and in multilateral spaces.

Among other issues, China ratified the rejection of the U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, the imposition of unilateral sanctions, and other coercive measures that hinder its development and normal ties with the rest of the world.

Havana reaffirmed its attachment to the principle of One China, to non-interference in its internal affairs, and the Asian giant's right over Taiwan. (Source: PL)
