Debate on the blockade against Cuba and its extraterritoriality held in France

Paris, Dec 2 (RHC) The headquarters of the House of Latin America in Paris hosted today a debate organized by the association France-Cuba on the blockade imposed by the United States against the island and its extraterritorial scope.

The Paris section of the solidarity organization, one of the oldest of its kind in Europe and the world after its creation in 1961, invited writer and researcher Viktor Dedaj, author of the book "Cuba sous embargo", which offers aspects and testimonies related to the impact of the economic, commercial and financial siege in force for more than 60 years.

French and Latin American supporters and representatives of the embassy of the Antillean nation participated in the meeting, in which Dedaj addressed his vision on the extraterritoriality of a blockade that he described as criminal.

Washington applies the Torricelli (1992) and Helms-Burton (1996) laws to internationalize its attempt to asphyxiate Cuba, through threats, pressures, sanctions, and fines against banks, companies, and citizens all over the world, a crusade with a particular incidence in Europe.

In the presentation of his book "Cuba sous embargo", Dedaj affirmed that the title is an editorial matter, given his conviction that the island faces a blockade, which he defined as an act of war and an attempt of crime against humanity, and not an embargo.

Likewise, he denounced that this aggressive policy was accompanied by terrorist acts, resulting in thousands of dead and wounded on the Island.

The France-Cuba association took advantage of the meeting to ratify its condemnation of the blockade and to announce upcoming solidarity activities. (Prensa Latina)
