Havana, Dec 6 (RHC) On Tuesday, the president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), Esteban Lazo Hernandez held official talks in Ankara with the head of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mustafa Şentop.
The meeting was the last stop of the official visit of the island's parliamentary leader in the Eurasian nation and it ratified the interest of both nations to deepen ties on issues of mutual interest.
Lazo proposed to organize the first inter-parliamentary meeting and review all interests, with emphasis on priority sectors such as cooperation in biotechnology, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, livestock, culture, and education.
According to a note from the National Assembly of People's Power, during the meeting, Lazo thanked the solidarity against the U.S. blockade against Cuba, especially the help in electricity generation.
Şentop reiterated the opposition to the unjust, illegal, unilateral coercive measures against Cuba imposed by the United States and congratulated the Caribbean nation for its results in the fight against Covid˗19 and the Cuban vaccines against the coronavirus.
In addition, he addressed the multiple existing potentials for bilateral relations, including energy, tourism, construction, agriculture, health, and education, among other branches.
The note adds that both parties agreed on the need to accompany the level of relations between their respective governments, through a fluid exchange of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups and the Permanent Working Commissions, among other mechanisms.
At the end of the friendly meeting, Esteban Lazo and Mustafa Şentop signed a memorandum of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
