Documentary 'Against Time', by filmmaker Rolando Almirante
Havana, Dec 18 (RHC) The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) will celebrate the 64th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution (January 1), with the screening in Havana of the documentary 'Against Time', by filmmaker Rolando Almirante.
The material offers a look at the health system in the Caribbean Island based on a chronological-historical analysis of the foundational and development processes and the challenges faced by the sector, which was able to overcome obstacles and had national vaccines against Covid-19.
The audiovisual refers to the strategy implemented in Cuba to stop the pandemic caused by SARS-COV2.
The director says that the idea for the project emerged in the early days of the health crisis and follows the material directed by Alejandro Gil, 'Soberanía', which dealt with the work of Cuban scientists in the production of the immunogen.

In a meeting with the press, Almirante highlighted the relevance of a documentary like this one, which deals with the background, emergence, purposes, and strengths of the Public Health System, while honoring the work of the sector's workers.
He also recognized the outstanding work of doctors such as José Ramón Machado Ventura and Juan Vela Valdés; pathologist Israel Borrajero; the founder of the Finlay Institute, Concepción Campa; journalist Marta Rojas and historian María del Carmen Barcia.
The film also reflects the daily life of doctors and nurses in some vulnerable neighborhoods of Havana, while allowing "the public to answer the question of why Cuba had such vaccines," explained the filmmaker.
Produced by ICAIC and D'Alma Films Producciones, the film is scripted by Almirante and Yosvany Montano; with photography by Pedro Suarez; art direction by Alejandro Ferro, and original music by Yasel Muñoz Alvarez. (Source: PL)
