Havana, Dec 22 (Red Web) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived Thursday at the La Coloma popular council, in the province of Pinar del Río, a town affected by Hurricane Ian last September 27.
Díaz-Canel first arrived at the area of an old roofing tile factory, where 18 houses are being built for families in vulnerable situations. He was accompanied by the head of government, Manuel Marrero Cruz, ministers, and Pinar del Río authorities

With more than seven thousand inhabitants, La Coloma was severely affected by Ian causing severe damage to the housing fund, electricity service, and water supply.
At the 'Hermanos Barcón' Productive Pole of the Tobacco Enterprise of Pinar del Río, the head of state appreciated how the land is being used to increase food production for the population.

At km 7 of the La Coloma highway, the dignitary then visited the tobacco-growing areas of producer Venancio Ramírez.
There, they are recovering from the damages caused by Ian and progress is being made in the preparation of land to comply with the plan.
