Hanoi, Aug 23, (RHC), -- Pharmaceutical distributors, experts, and representatives from Vietnam have expressed interest in an effective Cuban medicine to fight meningitis B and C.
The Vietnamese health officials participated in an exhibition, convened by the national company VABIOTECH, devoted to Cuba's progress in the research of meningitis and a locally-developed vaccine Va-Mengoc.
Pablo Gonzalez, an expert from the Finlay Institute, a prestigious Cuban institution, explained the clinical protocols followed by Cuba in the development of such treatments, the immunization campaigns carried out since 1989, and the substantial success of this biotechnological formula in reducing the incidence of this disease.
He noted that tests performed in Cuba, Brazil,Argentina, uruguay and Colombia, involving millions of children have shown low risks of innocuous reactions from these vaccines.
Vietnam has already administered the vaccine Va-Mengoc to some two million children, and plans to extend the treatment nationwide are being examined.
