Meeting of culture ministers of the Group of 77 + China

Havana, May 1 (RHC) The Havana Convention Palace will host next Thursday a meeting of culture ministers of the Group of 77 + China.

The meeting will take place in the context of the First International Congress on Cultural Heritage, which will be held from Wednesday through Friday at the National Museum of Fine Arts in the Cuban capital.

In a previous meeting between representatives of the organization currently led by Cuba, Deputy Minister of Culture, Fernando Rojas recalled that "heritage constitutes one of the main axes of the reflections around culture, and this congress is linked to the contributions of the group in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

He stressed that one of the agreements of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development, held in October in Mexico City, was the need to place culture high on the multilateral agenda of this United Nations organization and its member countries.

Rojas also pointed out that the next congress will be a platform to show the rebirth of cultural life in the Antillean nation, in a face-to-face format, despite difficult economic conditions, but "with the will to contribute to human improvement and for an artistic activity to reach everyone".

Regarding the meeting of Ministers of Culture, the minister said that the main themes of the meeting will be culture as a global public good, and the social and economic dimension of culture, among other objectives.

"Among the results of the meeting is expected the adoption of a final declaration aimed at concrete actions to promote culture and multilateral links," said Ana Margarita Morejón, director of International Relations of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba. (Source: Prensa Latina)
