Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Wednesday that the establishment of a new world information and communications order cannot be postponed.

Havana, May 10 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said on Wednesday that the establishment of a new world information and communications order cannot be postponed.

On his account on the social network Twitter, the foreign minister said that "a true Internet governance will not be possible as long as 6 US technological platforms control 80% of the data generated on the network and shape political scenarios and the will of millions of people".

Rodriguez has also repeatedly criticized the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade on platforms and technologies, which excludes Cubans from services that most Internet users cannot enjoy.

"This is the main obstacle to broad access to information and communications technologies," he said in a recent tui.

It is generally recognized in various publications that among the so-called giants of the technology and digital industry are Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and Facebook (now Meta), which long ago conquered a predominant place not only in the world of new technologies, but also in the world of finance.

Various lists of these conglomerates that dominate global information and communications also include Google, Apple, Alphabet Inc, Samsung Group, Tencent Holdings and Cisco Systems, among others.
