Havana, August 27 (RHC)-- The Cuban Foreign Ministry today hailed the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Mozambique, based on respect, solidarity and mutual support.

On the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its willingness to continue strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, during his recent visit to Mozambique, thanked the African country for supporting the world call for the lifting of the U.S. blockade against the Caribbean nation.

In official conversations, the Mozambican head of state, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, ratified his solidarity with the Cuban people and praised their resilience in the face of those coercive measures.

The history of cooperation between Mozambique and Cuba is marked by the friendship of the first Mozambican president and independence fighter, Samora Machel, with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who visited the city of Beira in March 1977.

From those first moments to the present, the ties between both nations have been close, according to official sources.
