President of Cuba receives high-ranking party leader from Burundi
Havana, Sep 8 (RHC) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel received this Friday at the Palace of the Revolution, Reverien Ndikuriyo, general secretary of the Government Party of the Republic of Burundi, National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD).
The Head of State recalled the deep feelings that the Cuban people have towards Africa and shared experiences of his recently concluded tour of various countries on that continent. He also evoked the strong bonds of friendship with African nations, founded on historical roots marked by three fundamental moments.
Díaz-Canel confirmed to the visitor the will of the Government and Party to continue working to strengthen and expand bilateral relations in all areas, always from the position of solidarity.
He pointed out that Ndikuriyo’s visit is presented as the prelude to the reception in Cuba to the president of Burundi, when he attends the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China.
The Cuban president also thanked the Government, the Party, and the people of Burundi for their support in Cuba's fight against the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade.
For his part, Reverien Ndikuriyo conveyed to Díaz-Canel greetings from his Burundian counterpart, Évariste Ndayishimiye, as well as from all those African people.
This is the second visit of Reverien Ndikuriyo to the largest island in the Antilles. He has held exchanges with various authorities in the country, and signed agreements that become a road map for joint work. (Source: granma.cu)
