Cuba participates in the World Conference of Young Parliamentarians

 

Havana, Sept 15 (RHC) A delegation of young deputies from the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba participates from today until the 17th, in the 9th World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, based in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The event is convened by the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) and the National Assembly of the Asian country, with the central theme The role of young people in accelerating sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovations.

The first session of the international event, which is dedicated to Digital Transformation, will discuss the progress made in parliamentary digital transformation for sustainable development, and the improvement of institutions and policies to promote digital transformation and improve sustainable economic development opportunities.

Experiences will be shared on legislation and supervision of national legislative bodies and the role of young parliamentarians in promoting digital transformation in the context of the fourth industrial revolution.

En la sesión dos de la conferencia, sobre la Innovación y Empresas de Nueva Creación, se abordará la mejoría de las instituciones y políticas en la promoción de la innovación y las empresas de nueva creación (incluidas las relacionadas con jóvenes) como motor del desarrollo inclusivo y sostenible, incluida la tecnología alimentaria.

The second session, on Innovation and Start-ups, will deal with the improvement of institutions as well as policies for innovation and start-ups as a driver of inclusive and sustainable development, including food technology.

In addition, there will be exchanges on legislation and supervision of national parliaments and the role of young people in promoting innovation and new businesses, and on the development of artificial intelligence to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Session three will focus on Promoting Respect for Cultural Diversity in Support of Sustainable Development. This exchange will have the objective of fundamentally examining the role of Parliaments and young parliamentarians in promoting respect for cultural diversity during a time of technological transition and globalization.

As representatives of the young Cuban parliamentarians who will participate in the event are José Carlos Cruz Sandoval, deputy for the Avilanian municipality of Baraguá and general director of the National Directorate of the Young Computer and Electronics Club; Ian Pedro Carbonell Karell, deputy for the municipality of Minas de Matahambre, in Pinar del Río, and director of Macroeconomic Policies of the Central Bank of Cuba and the representative for the municipality of La Lisa, in Havana; and Orisell Richards Martínez, vice dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty of Law at the University of Havana.

También se encuentran en la nación indochina, como parte de una visita oficial, Ana María Mari Machado, vicepresidenta del legislativo cubano; Rolando Miguel González Patricio y Ramón Osmani Aguilar Betancourt, presidentes de las comisiones de Relaciones Internacionales y Agroalimentaria de la Asamblea Nacional, respectivamente; así como Yuniel Flores Aguiar, funcionario de la Dirección de Relaciones Internacionales.
