Cuba and China ratify special ties and multiarea cooperation

 

Havana, Oct 25 (RHC) The 30th session of the Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission validated the special nature of bilateral ties, based on cooperation in all areas, according to the Cuban ambassador in Beijing, Alberto Blanco.

The Commission ratified China's role as a strategic partner of the island, as well as mutual trust, respect and support.

The Vice Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, and the Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Wentao, closed the session with important bilateral agreements, according to a statement from the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The statement reads that the 30th session has contributed to the strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation in prioritized sectors of mutual interest, such as biotechnology, renewable energy sources, food production, tourism, info-communications, the sugar industry, transportation and commerce, among others.

Cabrisas highlighted the relevance of this new session for promoting the consensus reached between the presidents of both countries.

For his part, the Chinese minister highlighted the special nature of bilateral ties, while expressing his willingness to further strengthen cooperation in trade and other prioritized sectors.

They agreed to highlight that cooperation in the biotechnology sector is a symbol of bilateral relations.

Both parties also exchanged about the economic situation in their countries, the impact of the United States blockade on Cuba, climate change, the pandemic and the international situation.

The plenary session was preceded by meetings with senior managers of important companies and government, banking and financial institutions.

Cabrisas's agenda in China included visits to economic objectives such as Biotech Pharmaceuticals Limited and its subsidiary in the city of Changzhi, as well as the headquarters of the e-commerce platform JD.com. (Source: PL)
