Direct flights between Canada and Cienfuegos will restart
Havana, December 5 (RHC) Direct flights between Canada and the Cuban city of Cienfuegos will resume this December 8 through the Jaime González International Airport.
The two flights on Friday by Sunwing Airlines mean the restart of its operations from Canada to the airports of Cienfuegos and Manzanillo, in the eastern province of Granma, after several interrupted or intermittent years.
Sunwing Airlines decided to resume its flights to these provinces due to the growing interest of Canadian travelers in visiting Cuba.
These destinations are known for their rich history, beautiful beaches, and colonial charm, making them popular choices for tourists who want to explore authentic Cuban culture.
Yuneidy Pérez López, deputy delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in Cienfuegos, said that the recipient of these flights is the Gaviota company and the tourists are destined for hotel facilities in this province, Trinidad, Varadero and Cayo Coco.
For more than two decades, the Canadian market has been the main source of tourists to various Cuban destinations. In 2022, more than half a million Canadians visited Cuba, according to information from the National Office of Statistics and Information. (Source: PL)
