Canadian ambassador to Cuba toured Guantánamo
Havana, Dec 7 (RHC) The Canadian ambassador to Cuba, John Geoffrey Gartshore, this Thursday concluded a tour of sites of historical and tourist interest in the Cuban province of Guantánamo.
The diplomat, accompanied by the head of the Embassy's Political Section, Elizabeth Utting, visited several communities in the municipalities of Plan Turquino, Yateras, Baracoa and Imías, where he learned about cultural and historical traditions.
He was received by the Governor of Guantánamo, Alis Azahares Torreblanca, who explained the cultural, historical, geographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the province, as well as the projects concerning the local development strategy.
John Geoffrey Gartshore rated his visit very positively and praised the authentic heritage and cultural values appreciated during his tour of Guantánamo. He also highlighted the possibilities of the eastern province to develop nature tourism, of great interest to visitors to his country. (Source: PL)
