Cuba and India with possibilities of strengthening ties through cinema

 

Havana, Dec 9 (RHC) The Cuban ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas, today highlighted the possibilities of cooperation in the film industry between the two countries.

Invited by the Marhwah Studios Complex, considered the first film center in northern India, the Cuban diplomat was the guest of honor on the last day of the sixteenth Global Festival of that industry in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Before the screening of the film Cuentos de un día más by renowned director Fernando Pérez, Sandeep Marwah, president and founder of the studio and the AAFT University of Media and Arts, presented Simancas with recognition for his contribution to cultural collaboration between Cuba and India.

Simancas spoke to the audience about the similarities between Indian and Cuban cultures, mainly in telling stories with a strong role of music and dance.

He invited Marhwah to visit Cuba to learn first-hand about the reality of the Caribbean nation and its cinematographic creation.

The Cuban diplomat had the opportunity to talk with students from the university majoring in journalism and tourism, who offered a sample of Indian dishes based on millet cereal and others motivated by Cuban culture.

The Noida festival featured films from more than 70 countries and food sessions related to the invited nations, music and fashion parades, dance recitals, as well as photography and paintings. There were also seminars, poster presentations and books. (Source: PL)
