Cuba and Spain for strengthening interparliamentary ties

Havana, Jan 25 (RHC) Parliamentarians from Cuba and Spain expressed in Havana the interest in strengthening ties between both legislative entities.

In a meeting at the National Capitol, Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba (ANPP), and Enrique Santiago, general secretary of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) and deputy to the Spanish Congress, advocated also strengthening interparty ties.

According to the official website of the ANPP, Mari highlighted the work priorities for  2024 in the National Assembly and, in particular, in bilateral relations with her Spanish counterparts.

She thanked Santiago for his support in Cuba's battle to achieve the end of the United States blockade, and against the inclusion of the island in Washington's list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

The Cuban parliamentarian reaffirmed the need to promote parliamentary work amid the situation in Palestine due to Israeli aggression, and in favor of just causes in the world.

For his part, Santiago highlighted the favorable relations with the Cuban legislature and expressed the intentions to strengthen alliances in common interests and in confronting the imperialist offensive, taking into account the principles of respect in international cooperation mechanisms.

He also summarized the strategies designed to promote initiatives that allow for closer ties with Cuba and its people, in pursuit of the preservation of peace. (Source: PL)
