Cuba will update fuel prices when conditions are met
Havana, Jan 31 (RHC) The Cuban Government today postponed the update of fuel prices in foreign currency, taking into account that the projections to correct economic distortions will only be implemented if the conditions are created.
According to the First Vice Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba, Mildrey Granadillo, the decision is influenced by the occurrence of a cybersecurity incident in the computer systems to trade fuels, whose origin has been identified in a virus from outside. She announced that the authorities are carrying out the corresponding investigations.
Granadillo explained that the update of fuel prices is necessary to encourage savings and contain demand due to the high prices that the country faces to buy them in the international market and be able to allocate them to other activities for the production of goods and services.
She assured that fuel sales services provided to the population will not stop, and that the population will be informed when the conditions are created to implement the Government's projection linked to the update of prices in this area. (Source: PL)
