Havana, April 11 (RHC)-- Grenada's Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell arrived Thursday in Havana as part of an official visit to Cuba in the context of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two nations.

At José Martí International Airport, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal headed the delegation that received Mitchell, together with Rafael Dausá Céspedes, director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, and members of the diplomatic corps of that country and Cuba.

As part of his stay in our country, which will last until Sunday, the 14th, the Grenadian visitor will hold official conversations with his Cuban counterpart and carry out other activities of interest.

Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell (1978) achieved a wide victory in the general elections of June 23, 2022, where he obtained nine parliamentary seats out of the 15 possible.

He officially took office as prime minister of Grenada on June 24, 2022. Mitchell visited Cuba in September 2023 to attend the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China.

The two countries have maintained bilateral relations since April 14, 1979.

During more than four decades of political-diplomatic ties, these nations have strengthened cooperation in areas such as health, education and construction, in addition to exploring other areas of mutual interest.

Cuba has contributed to train more than 300 Grenadian professionals in higher education and hosts scholarship holders in various careers, mainly in health. (Source: ACN)
