Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer

Havana, Jul 5 (RHC) Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez congratulated the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, who took office on Friday after dominating the elections at the head of the Labor Party.

"I congratulate Keir Starmer, appointed new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, after winning with a large majority," he wrote on his X account.

Cuba and the United Kingdom signed in 2023 a Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement that should continue to expand bilateral ties, the text adds.

King Charles III today officially named Starmer as the new Prime Minister after a meeting at Buckingham Palace, the final step in the traditional protocol.

The leader of the Labor Party won the elections the day before, when his organization obtained 412 deputies to 121 for the Conservative Party, according to official results. (Source:PL)
