Havana, October 15 (RHC) -- Health is a sector with a huge potential for cooperation between Ecuador and Cuba, the Public Health Minister of Ecuador Carina Vance asserted on Tuesday.

While inaugurating a bilateral working meeting in Quito, aimed at exploring areas and mechanisms for mutually beneficial cooperation, the Minister pointed out that the two countries intend to speed up the planning and approval process of joint projects.

For two days, specialists and technicians of Ecuador and Cuba will participate in working sessions, in which they will address possibilities for cooperation in topics like the treatment of diabetes, medicaments, vaccines and the struggle against cancer, among others.

According to Vance, this is yet another step to revitalize the system of medical attention in Ecuador, particularly in the branch of disease prevention and sanitation, “an area where we still have a lot to learn from Cuba," she said.
