Havana, November 9 (RHC) -- The Minister of Transport of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez, assured this Saturday that this activity is gradually reestablishing its services after the passage of Hurricane Rafael through the west of the island, a source reported.

As part of the transition to the Recovery Phase in the nation, decreed last Thursday, the passenger transportation services offered by the company Ómnibus Nacionales were resumed, the head of that portfolio reported on his Facebook account.

In this modality, the departures planned for the interprovincial routes by car, which link the capital with the rest of the country, and the connections between territories, with the exception of the routes to the municipalities of Baracoa and Maisí, began.

Likewise, the day before, national trains began to circulate again and public transport in Havana is gradually returning to normal, although some roads remain blocked, the minister said.   Rodríguez also assured that operations are being carried out in the Port of Havana, where food and other cargo that was in its warehouses were protected.

For its part, he explained, the company Geocuba is working on the restoration of navigation signals in the ports where there were impacts by Hurricane Rafael, including the Batabanó Surgidero, key to restoring navigation between Batabanó and the Isle of Youth.

According to the head of the sector, this Sunday the ferry Perseverance will arrive at that port, which did not suffer any damage from the hurricane as it successfully took shelter in the Siguanea inlet, he specified.
