Prieto opposes cultural imperialism and unquestioning acceptance of foreign cultural products, as they pose a threat to national preservation

Havana, Dec 28 (RHC) The Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca University in the province of Pinar del Río has bestowed the honorary title of Doctor of Social Sciences upon the renowned Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto.

Prieto received the honor from Yorki Mayor, head of the university, during a ceremony that celebrated Prieto’s academic achievements and extensive literary contributions.

Likewise, the ceremony served to praise the integration of his political action and intellectual contemplation as a solid foundation for the development of Cuban culture and the preservation of cultural heritage.

In this regard, Prieto has significantly contributed to the preservation of the national, Latin American, and Caribbean identity, rooted in the Martian heritage.

Abel Prieto, born on November 11, 1950 in Pinar del Río, is a Cuban educator, author of short stories, and a political figure.

He is recognized as a brilliant interpreter of revolutionary thought, characterized by his extensive knowledge and profound ideas. He opposes cultural imperialism and unquestioning acceptance of foreign cultural products, as they pose a threat to national preservation.
