Cuba gets ready for second edition of Beyond Borders Ballet
Havana, Jan 4 (RHC) The Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC) and the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theater from the United States have come together to work on the second edition of Ballet Beyond Borders (BBB) HAVBANA 2025, which will take place from January 7 to 11.
Charlene Carey, the founder of the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre and BBB, organized the event for the first time in Montana, with the goal of celebrating the vibrant development of global dance.
As stated by LADC in a press release, the proposal attracted artists and educators from various American cities, including Los Angeles, as well as from countries such as Italy, China, Pakistan, and Cuba.
The exceptional outcome in Havana led to replicate the experience, which is why the second edition has been organized this year.
The headquarters of LADC, Malecón ART 255, and the National Theater, will host the presentations of BBB HAVBANA 2025, with the inaugural event taking place in the Avellaneda hall at 7:00 p.m. next Tuesday.
For this event, the Cuban dance company will present excerpts from Habana Fénix, a highly acclaimed production premiered in 2023.
On the same day, at noon, the Plazuela de Belén will be the venue for a flash mob, which the group has planned as a creative surprise, unprecedented in Cuba.
The finale of the event will be held on the stage of the National Theater on January 11 at 7:00 p.m. local time. The performances will feature LADC, with special guests including Andile Ndlovu from the Washington Ballet, Domsa Radu from Romania, and Grettel Morejón and Dani Hernández, the first dancers of the National Ballet of Cuba.
BBB HAVBANA 2025 also provides master classes, lectures and activities that will introduce the participants to a diverse range of cultural, traditional, and dance-related experiences.
For the first time, the event will be held, on January 13, at the Tomás Terry Theater in the south-central city of Cienfuegos. (Source: Prensa Latina)
