Cuba to Host Congress of Hispanic Women Writers

Havana, November 6 (RHC)-- Cuba will host the 24th Congress of the International Association of Hispanic Women's Literature and Culture, set for November 10th through the 14th, organized by the José Antonio Portuondo Literature and Linguistics Institute.

The event's program includes, among other activities, paper presentations, seminars and round table discussions.

Cuban researcher and literary critic Zaida Capote told the press in Havana that the congress, co-sponsored by UNESCO, will this time pay homage to renowned Cuban poet Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, on the 200th anniversary of her birth.

More than 150 scholars from Canada, the United States, Mexico, Bolivia, Spain, Poland, South Korea, Iran, Venezuela and the host country Cuba have confirmed their participation.

The International Association of Hispanic Women's Literature and Culture conducts research on and promotes the literary and artistic works of Ibero-American women intellectuals.
