Santiago de Cuba, November 13 (RHC-acn) -- The Fishing Company of Santiago de Cuba province (PESCASAN by its Spanish acronym) is marketing new products thus diversifying its production with the added value of the industry, which allows processing of 90 percent of the capturing on the 49 micro-dams and 17 reservoirs.
They added five to their 18 usual well presented and well received products, including tench fillet and slices, smoked and salted, the latter are been made near the reservoirs under sanitary requisites, to save in transportation, ice and fuel.
After being tested on the fish market network of the province, the extensive sale began because of conditions created in the modernized industries of Santiago, Palma Soriano and Contramaetre municipalities.
Lemay Labrada, PESCASAN Operations and Industry Director, told ACN that they have processed nearly two thousand tons of fish, including those used as feedstock for croquettes and masses.
PESCASAN reached 90 percent of the annual plan of aquaculture capture at the end of October amounting to over 2,700 tons higher than that of 2013.
Alberto Clavijo, PESCASAN director, specified that these results cover part of the demand of the population, and added they also sell to international tourist hotels and export eviscerated and frozen tench.
PESCASAN´s 1,021 workers intend to close 2014 with about 200 tons of fish above the plan, Clavijo announced, acknowledging the advance, despite the ongoing repairs of boats and gear catching deficit.
