Havana, November 28 (RHC) -– Argentina´s National Council for Scientific and Technological Research and Cuba's Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center have signed 17 collaboration accords for the next few years.
The protocols, signed during an integration forum held here, include the setting up of a lab for the research, development and certification of pharmaceuticals produced by the Cuban and the Argentinean centers, which will be named after Ernesto Che Guevara.
The representatives from the two entities also considered other areas of common interest for future projects in the area of human and agriculture biotechnology.
The director of the Cuban scientific center, Luis Herrera, told reporters that these accords take academic collaboration to a higher stage with new development projects and products in the benefit of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the president of the Argentinean institution, Roberto Carlos Salvarezza said that the first accords in the area were signed in 2009, four of which are under implementation including one on cancer therapy.
The Argentinean official stressed the importance of the accords signed this time and noted that they can learn much from Cuba and thus strengthen ties of solidarity between the scientific communities of both countries.
