Havana, February 21 (RHC-PL), -- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) presented in Havana the latest copies of its magazines Culture and Development, dealing respectively with intangible and underwater heritage.

This meeting was part of the exhibition of the 24th International Book Fair Havana-2015 (12 to 22 February) and had as venues the headquarters of the regional office of UNESCO in Havana.

The editors Leire Fernández and Begoña Guzmán spoke about editions 12 and 13 of this publication, and highlighted the impact of culture on the economic development of nations, and mentioned the Cuban interest to foster the cultural potential of the island.

They noted significant elements such as the creation of jobs and made reference to projects they have in Cuba, including in the eastern city of Santiago, related to diving, tourism, and development of youth workforce.

In Santiago, they plan to utilise the experience of many people in diving to use them as dive guides, due to the underwater wealth of the area that includes the sunken fleet of Spanish ships that fought in 1898.

Both Spanish specialists explained that both intangible and underwater culture are areas that have much to contribute to the development of nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, and elsewhere on the planet.
