Cuba Sends Medical Aid Brigade to Nepal

Havana, May 8 (RHC) -– A 48-member medical brigade including 22 doctors is being sent to Nepal in response to the April 25th earthquake that killed more than 8,400 people.

 

The team also takes a field hospital that contains a surgical unit, sterilization equipment, an intensive care unit and diagnostic equipment including X-ray and ultrasound machines, according to officials.
 

These medical workers are part of the renowned Henry Reeves disaster relief brigade. Cuban medical specialists have traveled all over the world to aid populations stricken by huge disasters, including Haiti, Pakistan, and most recently West Africa to fight the Ebola epidemic.
 

The death toll from the April 25th quake in the Himalayan mountain nation has reached 8,413, with more than 17,000 people injured.
