Havana, May 18 (RHC) –- A new climbing park has opened in Cuba that is being touted as the first of its kind in Latin America, EFE news agency reports.

The Rocarena aerial adventure park was installed by Germany's CON-IMPEX, the local representative of Kristall Turm, a Bavaria, Germany-based developer of high-rope courses and climbing and bouldering walls for indoor and outdoor areas.

The Cuban park features a three-level main tower and has a capacity for 120 customers, who can simultaneously enjoy a range of climbing elements, CON-IMPEX General Manager Peter Apel was quoted as saying by Prensa Latina.

The park, located on Cayo Coco, a cay in the Jardines del Rey archipelago off Cuba's northern coast, offers "extreme safety" for both experts and beginners, who receive orientation from a guide prior to their use of the facility, Apel said.

The highest level of the main tower serves as a viewing platform, while the lowest level is just one meter (3.3 feet) high and is suitable for use by children as young as four.
