Havana, August 3 (RHC)-- The 13th International Congress on Sugar and Its Derivatives will be held in Havana from October 5th to the 9th. Organizers of the event have announced that among the participants will be Guatemalan José Alberto Orive Vélez, the new Executive Director of the International Organization of the sugar industry.

The meeting will be attended by industry professionals to discuss progress in sugar technology, industrial efficiency, energy from biomass, the production of alcoholic drinks as well as matters relating to animal feed and sugarcane.

According to the organizing committee, discussions during the international congress also contemplate the evaluation of payment systems of sugarcane, bi-products, quality management and the environment, and experience in production chains.
