Granma Newspaper Highlights Contribution of President Raúl Castro and Fidel Castro to Revolutionary Journalism

Havana, October 3 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raúl Castro and Revolution leader Fidel Castro, were granted the commemorative distinction of the 50th anniversary of Cuba's newspaper Granma, in recognition of their contribution to revolutionary journalism.

The solemn ceremony was in the framework of activities marking the fifth anniversary of the first Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and Granma newspaper, which is regarded as the official voice of the political organization.

PCC Second Secretary José Ramón Machado Ventura received the distinctions on behalf of both Cuban leaders.

Addressing those present, Machado Ventura pointed to the historical context in which the PCC's Central Committee and Granma newspaper were both founded on October 3rd, 1965. He stressed the key role the paper has played in promoting each and every program of the Revolution towards unity amongst the people.
