United Nations, November 18 (RHC)-- Cuba has reiterated at the United Nations its call for the elimination of nuclear weapons. During the presentation at the UN General Assembly of the annual report of the International Atomic Energy Organization, Cuban diplomat Ivian del Sol said that humanity continues at a serious risk of being eliminated by over 16,000 nuclear weapons existing in the world today.
Disarmament cannot continue to be postponed and conditioned, stated the diplomat during the forum. She added that the only way to prevent the use of such artifacts is through their prohibition and elimination, under strict international supervision.
The Cuban representative said that the International Atomic Energy Organization has to play the important role in achieving that goal.
