Cuba and Russia Strengthen Cooperation in Biotechnology Sector

Havana, February 23 (RHC)-- Alexander Chernov, Deputy President of the Skol-kovo Foundation, said in Havana that Russia and Cuba have signed new agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the biotechnology field.

Founded by the Russian government in 2010, the Skol-kovo Foundation is a non-profit organization. It is the principal agency responsible for the Russian Skol-kovo Innovation Center, which is a scientific and technological center for the development and commercialization of advanced technologies.

On the Cuban side, Eulogio Pimentel, General Director of the Havana-based Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, signed the four memorandums of understanding, which provide also for joint projects in such fields as oncology and bio-informatics.
