Havana, March 5 (RHC)-- Cuba has demanded that U.S. President Barack Obama repeals immediately his executive order against Venezuela, and has expressed its unconditional, unwavering support for the Venezuelan government and people.

In an official statement, the Cuban government condemned the extension for another year of what it called 'Obama's arbitrary, aggressive Executive Order 13692, declaring Venezuela an unusual, extraordinary threat to the foreign policy and national security of the United States.’

The Cuban government notes that the executive order, which was first enacted on March 8th, 2015, amounts to U.S. interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, the aim of which is to destabilize the South American country and overthrow the Bolivarian government of President Nicolás Maduro.

The Cuban statement calls on all Latin American and Caribbean governments and peoples to join in denouncing the maneuver against Venezuela, which contravenes international law and the declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, as decreed by regional leaders at the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in Havana in January 2014.
