Havana, April 15 (RHC)-- Cuba has reported the ninth imported case of Zika virus. The patient is a Cuban man, living in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Sources of the Cuban Health Ministry said the patient began to show symptoms of the disease on April 4th while still in Venezuela. Upon arriving in Cuba on April 8th, he was taken to Havana's Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK), where he was immediately admitted for study and treatment.
On April 12th, the IPK confirmed the Real-time PCR test conducted on the patient was positive for Zika virus. The health ministry further said that the patient remains hospitalized in good general condition and asymptomatic.
