Visiting the former Azpiazo-Castro-Resende lawyer’s office is included in a special walk to celebrate Fidel Castro’s 90th birthday.

As part of the Havana Historian Office summer program Routes and Walks, the special walk includes the reopening of the former Azpiazo-Castro-Resende lawyers office, located in apartment 57, at 306 Tejadillo Street, between Cuba and Aguiar, in Old Havana.  This is the site were lawyers Jorge Aspiazo, Rafael Resende and Fidel Castro worked, the latter between 1950 and the first months in 1952.

During this period, the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, assumed the defense of people threatened to be evicted in different Havana neighborhoods; represented unions at the Mercado Único; denounced the corrupt Carlos Prío Socarras government, and he left from that apartment, on March 24th, 1952, to present legal charges against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.

The walk  also includes visiting other historical sites and collections linked to Fidel Castro, such as the Oswaldo Guayasamín House, the House of Africa, the Simón Bolívar House, the 9 de Abril Armory, the Juan Gualberto Gómez House, the former Government Palace, the Numismatic Museum, the Tobacco Museum and the Museum of the Revolution. People who choose to take the walk, scheduled for August 5th, 12th and 19th will see photos, bibliographic, audiovisual and visual art pieces on different moments of the historical leader’s life and work.
