Considered the best Cuban soprano of recent times, young Cuban singer, Bárbara Llanes, will perform in France on March 14th and 15th, along with pianist Rolando Luna.

Both musicians will play and sing works by renowned Cuban composers, including Ernesto Lecuona, Sindo Garay, Gonzalo Roig, Ignacio Cervantes, Oscar Hernández and Eliseo Grenet.

Classic Cuban tunes, such as Noche Azul (Blue Night) , Corazón (Heart), El ingenio de mi papá (My Father’s Sugar mill) and Rosa Roja (Red Rose) are part of the program which will culminate with La Salida de Cecilia Valdés, the most famous piece of the Cuban zarzuela Cecilia Valdés by Gonzalo Roig.

Born in Bejucal, Havana, in 1970, Bárbara Llanes studied music at Havana’s Alejandro García Caturla and Amadeo Roldán Music Schools and graduated at the Higher Institute for the Arts.

Llanes is currently a soloist with Havana’s Concert Company, while Rolando Luna, a pianist with the Buena Vista Social Club Project, has received numerous national and international awards, including the Jazz Prize for young Cuban talents, the one at the Solo Piano of Switzerland and the audience’s Award at the Montreux International Jazz Festival, also in Switzerland.
