Havana, July 30 (RHC) – The famous Cuban company Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC) will perform in Peru for the first time with its hit Cuba vibra!
Company director and choreographer, Lizt Alfonso, said in the Cuban capital that Lima’s National Grand Theater will be the venue of the ensemble’s upcoming tour. The troupe has received both critics’ and audiences’ acclaim in more than 200 cities around the world with its fusion style, a mix of flamenco, ballet, contemporary dance, folklore and popular Cuban dances. Cuba vibra! takes us on a tour of various rhythms which have made history on the island from 1950 up to the present, such as chachachá, mambo, bolero, rumba, conga, Latin jazz, swing and rock and roll.
The company, set up 29 years ago, is the only Cuban dance group that has performed in the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony and in 2008 received the International DORA Award for the Best Choreography of a Musical in Toronto, Canada, with the show Vida. With Cuba vibra!, LADC was a hit in the United States again, where in 2016 the ensemble received the International Spotlight Award of the Arts and Humanities granted by the White House. The company recently came back from Martinique, where it was a hit at the Gran Carbet Aimée Cesaire with capacity of nearly 900 people.
