Havana, January 27 (RHC) - Cuban singer, pianist and composer, Aymée Nuviola, won the Grammy for the best tropical music album during the 62nd Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday. The award, granted by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences from the United States, was shared with Marc Anthony.
In a somewhat unexpected victory, both artists tied and shared the prize, Anthony for ‘Opus,’ and Nuviola for ‘A Journey Through Cuban Music.’ The triumph occurred despite competing with the award-winning Latin Grammy productions ‘Literal’ by Juan Luis Guerra and 4:40 and ‘Tiempo al tiempo’ by Luis Enrique + C4 Trío, and others. In Los Angeles’ Staples Center, where the ceremony began remembering basketball player Kobe Bryant, the night’s big winner was young pop star Billie Eilish, who was only 18 years old and made history by obtaining the Grammies in four general categories in the same year.
