Cuban composer, arranger, pianist and orchestra conductor Adolfo Guzman
Havana, March 26 (RHC) – The recording of the concert “Guzmán Vive” (Guzmán Lives) this past Thursday marked the beginning of the national homage-paying campaign on occasion of the 101st birthday anniversary of pianist, composer, arranger and orchestra conductor Adolfo Guzmán –to be celebrated on May 13th.
The concert will be streamed on April 10th on social networks and the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture. It features young musicians performing emblematic tunes from Guzmán’s vast repertoire as a composer.
With artistic direction by tenor Hugo Oslé, the online show involves soloists from the catalog of the Adolfo Guzmán Music Company, the Mariana de Gonich Singing Academy and dance companies.
The program of activities includes the opening on April 15th of a photo gallery entitled Profecía (Prophecy) after the iconic tune written by the prolific author. It comprises previously unpublished photos of Adolfo Guzmán donated by his daughter.
A second concert online in homage to Adolfo Guzmán on April 23rd will feature Isla Caribe orchestra, conducted by Frank Boza, and on May 13th, a special commemorative gala will be streamed from Teatro América, with artistic direction by maestro Jorge Alfaro.
