Havana, July 9 (RHC)-- The documentary Sueño de Isla, dedicated to the life and work of prolific singer-songwriter Gerardo Alfonso, premiered Saturday in Havana.

The audiovisual work directed by filmmaker Rolando Almirante tells the creative journey that the artist undertook through his songs, which reflect his vision on raciality from the mythological, religious and social points of view.

According to Alfonso himself, it is "a deep documentary that delves into the most honest and sincere part of me and delves into my relationship with my environment," he said in the trailer of the production that places him recreating moments of his childhood in the streets of Havana.

The author of popular songs such as Sábanas blancas (1992), Aquí cualquiera tiene (1984), Como si fuera un gato (1986), Habana, dulce locura (2005) and Lo que Dios te dio (2007), defends a repertoire characterized by a fluid and attractive lyric.

During the screening at the Charles Chaplin movie theater in Havana, the public was able to enjoy a concert starring the remarkable Cuban troubadour along with his sons Diego and Tobías Alfonso.
