Sucre, May 16 (RHC)-- Bolivia's Deputy Minister of Communications, Gabriela Alcón, headed Tuesday the presentation at the Plurinational School of Public Management -EGPP-, of five academic programs aimed at strengthening the capacities of press workers.

"We have held many meetings with press workers, with associations, federations and the demand was always to carry out training courses that can be accommodated to the schedules", she explained in a press conference in which she intervened together with Iván Iporre, director of the EGPP.

Alcón explained that for this reason five training programs were structured, which will begin this May 22 in a classroom and virtual way, and adjusted to the schedules of workers in the sector.

"They are quick postgraduate courses for journalists and other press workers, accessible and economical," she said.

She also highlighted as important the certification of competencies, which he considered a commitment of the Government with the community radio workers.

Iporre, for his part, explained that the first program consists of giving continuity to the postgraduate courses promoted by the entity, with diplomas in Investigative, Digital and Economic Journalism; Communication and Depatriarchalization; Health Communication; and Multimedia Communication and Rights with a Gender Focus.

He informed that the second is the Open Program of Communication and Journalism composed of 18 short courses, with a duration of between two and three weeks, with diplomas oriented to press workers, professionals and university students.

A third program, he emphasized, consists of the Certification of Competencies, which allows people who were unable to complete their academic training to obtain a certificate in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Labor Competencies Certification System.

The fourth is aimed at native and community radio stations, and seeks to strengthen journalistic writing, editing and production in the radio medium.

Finally, the fifth program is a course in Audiovisual Communication for those working in this area.
