Washington, Aug 12 (RHC) The 75th Emmy Awards have been delayed and will now take place on January 15, 2024, the Television Academy and FOX jointly announced, amid ongoing strikes by two of Hollywood's largest unions.

The awards show originally was to take place on Sept. 18, 2023. However, the dual strikes by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screenwriters Guild of America have caused a ripple effect throughout Hollywood, leading to postponing the Emmys.

"The show will air live coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater at LA Live, and will honor the talented artists, writers, directors and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired and connected viewers around the world over the past year," Fox said in statement, announcing the schedule change.

The Emmy nominations were announced last month, with The Last of Us making history as the first live-action video game adaptation to have numerous nominations from awards organizers. The hit HBO series received nominations for the performances of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, as well as a nomination for Best Drama Series.

HBO's hugely popular show, Succession, from creator Jesse Armstrong takes the top spot this year with 27 nominations (including Best Drama Series), followed closely by The Last of Us with 24 nominations. The White Lotus and Ted Lasso are also among the top contenders, with 23 and 21 nominations, respectively.

Fox will air the three-hour awards show on Monday, January 15, 2024 (also known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the U.S.), beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

In addition, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held at the Peacock Theatre at LA Live for two consecutive nights, January 6 and 7, 2024, with an edited presentation airing January 13, 2024 at 8 p.m. (Eastern time) on FXX.(Taken from IGN)
