Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- The National Ballet of Cuba held this Friday a special presentation as part of the commemorative cycle for the 75th anniversary of its founding, at the theater of the Ministry of Communications, located in Havana.

Miguel Cabrera, the company's historian, gave a lecture on the history and main techniques of the dance from its emergence in the 15th century to the present day, with demonstrations by dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alederete, winners of the second edition of the International Classical Ballet Festival of Puebla, in Mexico.

The event was attended by Cuban Deputy Prime Ministers Inés María Chapman and Jorge Luis Perdomo, Minister of Communication Mayra Arevich, and prima ballerina Viengsay Valdés, general director of the BNC, among other high-ranking government officials on the island.

During the celebration, the Spanish Dance from the third act of the ballet Swan Lake, performed by prima ballerinas Chavela Riera and Yankiel Vázquez, and the fragment Four Swans from the second act of the work, a classic of international dance, performed by ballerinas Alianed Moreno, Melaine Leyva, Paloma Blanco and Camila Alfonso, were presented.

The ballet is a heritage of Cuba, it is the demonstration of that strength of Cubans to move forward and how our country, despite being so small, has such a great ballet and it is important for young people to know it, we must promote more and reach them, Chapman told Prensa Latina news agency.

This is the result of Cuban cultural policy, how to bring art to the great masses, to the people; it is the demonstration of that wonderful heritage not only for the technique, the transmission of that knowledge, but also for the strength, spirituality and continuity that the Ballet of Cuba has; seventy-five years is not little, it is a lot, added the deputy prime minister.

This presentation is the culmination of the conference day "An encounter with dance, technique, expression and styles", organized by the National Ballet of Cuba, which included the commemoration of the 67th anniversary of the act of atonement offered by the University Student Federation to Alicia Alonso and the BNC in 1956.
