Old Music Festival in Old Havana in February

The 11th Esteban Salas Old Music Festival will gather in Havana performers from Cuba, Latin America, Europe and the United States.

According to Teresa Paz, director of Cuba’s Ars Longa Old Music Ensemble, music and melodies from the Middle Ages, the Baroque and Renaissance will take over Havana in February with the participation of Cuban vocal groups, such as Ensemble Lauda, the Exaudi Choir and Vocal Luna, plus Ensemble Meridionalis, of the United States.  Also representing Cuba will be cellist, Alejandro Martínez, flutist, Alberto Rosas, and the Música Eterna Chamber Music Orchestra, directed by maestro Guido López-Gavilán.

Italy will bring oboist, Alfredo Bernardini and soprano Valentina Marghinotti, Uruguay will be present with Cristina García Banegas, and Germany with clarinet player, Susanne Ehrhardt. The gathering also includes lectures, workshops and professional exchanges, and its main venues are the Minor Basilica of the Saint Francis of Assisi Convert Concert Hall and Paula Church. Organized by the Havana Historian Office and the Ars Longa Old Music ensemble, the event also includes a Baroque concert at the alternative Factory of Cuban Art on February 18th.
