Havana, April 30 (RHC)-- The Caribbean Baseball Confederation notified the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) the postponement again of the regional Cup for the date of June 26 to July 3 in Curacao.
According to the official note received by the FCB, the reasons for postponing the third edition of the Caribbean competition respond to the need to offer a safe event to the participants and to allow time for access to the vaccinations against COVID-19.
The document reiterates the commitment of the organizers to have an event that safeguards the physical integrity of each member of the delegations and all those who make up the committee of this Cup, in addition to respecting the sanitary standards of the host nation.
The Caribbean Cup was initially scheduled to be held from April 17th to 24th in Willemstad, capital of Curacao; then it was changed to May 8th to the 15th and now it is delayed for another month due to the impact of COVID-19.
According to the sports media web site JIT, the Cuban national team in preparation under the command of coach Pablo Civil will continue training at the Victoria de Girón Stadium, in Matanzas, until the departure of the main team to the pre-Olympic of the Americas, scheduled to take place in the U.S. state of Florida, at the end of May.
