Havana, November 9 (PL)-- Cuba's team, the top team by country in the World Boxing Championship recently concluded in Serbia, is already in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where it will continue its tour of Europe.

This was confirmed to the Cuban News Agency, the captain of the group, Julio Cesar La Cruz, who said that they will make a training base there until November 16, when they will return to Havana.

La Cruz, who won his fifth universal crown in 92 kilograms, added that on November 14 they will face pugilists from Holland and others from an Ecuadorian team visiting that city.

The captain of the Domadores became in Belgrade the second Cuban fighter with more universal crowns behind Felix Savon, holder of six in the 91 kilograms.

Champion in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020, La Cruz celebrated the feat in the Serbian capital along with the also holder under the five rings in Japan, Andy Cruz, winner in 63.5 kilograms; and the debutant Yoenlis Feliciano Hernandez, winner in the 75.

Cuba, with eight men out of a possible 13, was crowned by nations after adding two bronze medals, won by Osbel Caballero (57 kilograms) and Henrich Ruiz (86).

The performance of coach Rolando Acebal's squad joins last August's performance in the Japanese summer event, in which they won four crowns and a bronze medal.

This performance makes the Domadores a strong contender to win the Best Team of the Year award in the Prensa Latina Sports Poll, whose 57th edition was presented on Monday in Havana.
