World Indoor Athletics Tour

Monte Carlo, October 20 (PL) -- The World Indoor Athletics Tour will have more competitions than ever in 2023, with 54 events planned so far, according to the International Federation of the discipline (World Athletics).

According to the source, meetings are expected to be held in 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, and the expanded tour incorporates additional competitions at the continental area level.

From seven meetings in 2020, the Tour grew to offer 24 in 2021, 33 in 2022 and now 54 in 2023.

In its eighth season, the indoor circuit will feature seven Gold-level meetings, the first in the German city of Karlsruhe on January 27 and the last in Britain's Birmingham on February 25.

The season also includes Silver, Bronze and Challenger meetings, equally distributed almost all over the world.

As part of the annual rotation, this time the Gold-level scoring disciplines will be 60, 800, 3000/5000 meters, pole vault, triple jump and shot put for women, and 400, 1500, 60 hurdles, high jump and long jump for men.

The three best results of each athlete will count towards their overall score, and whoever obtains the most points in the sum of each modality will have an invitation to the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow 2024.
