Havana, August 3 (JIT) - A costly defeat (3-0) was suffered by the Cuban team on Wednesday in the American group four of the Davis Cup 2023.

Guatemala's superiority was evident at the National Racquet Centre of Tacarigua, in Trinidad and Tobago, which ruled out any possibility of moving up in the competition.

Roiniel Galindo succumbed to Mario Hernandez in the first hour of the match in a 6-1 and 6-2 set. Dayron Zúñiga then lost 6-2 and 6-4 against Juan Sebastián Domínguez.

Finally, the duo of Yoan Perez and Galindo offered more resistance to Rafael Botran and Hernandez. They won the first set 6-4, but lost the following sets 6-2 and 7-5, which decreed the sweep in favor of the Central Americans.

The representatives of the Greater Antilles are momentarily in last place in group A with two losses and one match won. The Virgin Islands have the same record, although they have won two matches.

The team led by Wilfredo Henry-Torriente must win this match to avoid the basement of the group.
